The 'Ultimate Calibration Test' (UCT) was designed to prove the accuracy and capabilities of any 3D printer. The UCT has multiple elements that will let you know just how good your 3D printer is. Print the UCT with the smaller rectangle (above the seam) facing up, Otherwise, it is cheating!!! The UCT was created in Solidworks by me as a response to questions regarding the "Designability" and "Printability" of 3D objects.  The UCT prints as one piece, but will separate into two rectangular parts along an almost invisible seam. When the seam is split, there is a cylinder inside the part (attached to the top rectangle) that is offset 0.2 mm from the external shell of the base rectangle. The cylinder is held to the base rectangle by a tinier cylinder (1 mm x 2 mm) on which the larger cylinder is built. The larger cylinder releases from the base rectangle with a twist, separating the UCT into two parts. I have also created a similar object where the cylinder splits away from the top and base rectangles creating three separate parts. Enjoy - Adam.

I am a designer of various objects, both practical and experimental. I can use Solidworks and Autocad and when feeling bold attempt some open source modelling programs too! My 3D Printer is a Flashforge Creator Dual Extruder, running ReplicatorG (Sailfish) and Makerware. 3D Printing allows me to extend beyond traditional sculpting and create variations on designs without having to waste materials (and in most cases - time). I print to enhance the world and endeavour to pass on this knowledge as an entrepreneurial design educator.
